Independent pharmacy has always been near and dear to my heart. As a pharmacist and pharmacy owner, I’ve seen firsthand what happens when community pharmacies close their doors — patients lose trusted caregivers, employees lose their livelihoods, and communities lose a vital source of care and connection.
As retirement approached, my wife and I began searching for a way to transition our own pharmacy. None of the traditional options felt right. Selling to a chain would erase the legacy we’d built. Finding another independent buyer was uncertain and often undervalued what we had worked a lifetime to create.
